I transformed our old stone fireplace into a modern concrete centerpiece that I LOVE!

I always felt it looked a bit off being off-center on the wall. Moving the gas fireplace wasn’t in the budget, so I built a larger fireplace face to balance it out.

Everyone should have a stud finder to safely anchor anything on the wall!

I’ve posted about this a few times because it’s one of my must-have tools for DIYers. I’ve used it in almost every project.

Even if you don’t do any major home renovations, anything heavy you hang on the wall—whether it’s a shelf, a frame, or a mirror—should always be nailed or screwed into a stud when possible. This ensures it’s secure and won’t fall.

Before getting a stud finder, I had no idea what studs were. I was randomly hanging things on my wall without checking, which caused a shelf to fall. Luckily, no one was hurt!

In this video, you can see the nail on the wall because it’s popping out (yes, it still works even when you can’t visibly see the nail or screw). Most of the time, you can’t see the nails or screws on the wall. In that case, just move the stud finder around to locate them!
