This corner of our backyard grew nothing but weeds This corner of our backyard grew nothing but weeds, and what started as a simple plan to add a shed somehow turned into building a deck AND a shed. 😂

Once I started planning it out I realized the ground wasn’t level enough for the shed, so naturally I gave myself more work and built a deck first.

Honestly, it ended up being the perfect solution for this space, and it gave us some much needed storage in the backyard.

And somehow we still weren’t done... 😅

Next up: building a retaining wall for our pergola install.

Under the deck is finally looking so much better 😅 Under the deck is finally looking so much better 😅

Because I’m an overthinker and always trying to make everything perfect, I spent way too much time figuring out where these pavers should go 😂

Of course this project took way longer than I expected, and I ended up ordering more materials than I thought I needed 🤣

But for the first time, I can actually start seeing the vision for this backyard

Still not complete done with this area but of course I moved on to a new project

Next up: deck and shed build… because apparently I don’t know how to stop starting new projects 😂
This project is taking way longer than I expected… This project is taking way longer than I expected… but to be fair, I’m also the queen of underestimating how long a project will actually take. 😅

Any guesses what I’m working on in the backyard? 👀
For a long time, I was scared to tackle projects a For a long time, I was scared to tackle projects around my home because I thought every project needed a professional.

And while there are absolutely projects I still hire out, I eventually realized that waiting for the “right person” to do it was keeping me from getting started at all.

So I started learning.

Not because I thought I could do it better than a professional, but because I wanted to understand how things worked, challenge myself, and create a home I loved without waiting for everything to be perfect.

Some projects turned out great. Some taught me lessons the hard way. 😅 But every single one gave me more confidence than I had before.

The truth is, confidence didn’t come first. The projects did.

If there’s something you’ve been wanting to do, this is your reminder that you don’t have to know everything before you start.

What’s a project you’ve completed that you never thought you’d be able to do?
Our unfinished basement gym slowly turned into sto Our unfinished basement gym slowly turned into storage because it was WAY too hot in the summer and freezing in the winter 😅 #ad

So we finally decided to fix the actual problem with a @comforttemps Pro Series 18,000 BTU Mini Split system 🙌🏽

I installed the indoor unit myself and had a professional handle the outdoor setup, and honestly this made SUCH a huge difference in the space already.

My favorite part? We can control everything right from the app 📱

Now the basement finally feels comfortable year round and we can actually start turning this space into the gym we originally planned for 😭

I thought removing the rocks was going to be the h I thought removing the rocks was going to be the hard part…

Then we removed everything and I realized just how much work it was actually going to take to fix this area the right way.

Between the Georgia clay, the slope, the truckloads of material, this project got a lot bigger than I expected.😅

Seeing it come together makes it all worth it

Next up: watch me spend way too much time overthinking my paver layout 😂
This is one of those projects that looked simple i This is one of those projects that looked simple in my head but quickly turned into something much bigger than I planned. 😅

I have no clue what I’m doing, but we’re committed now, so stick around and let’s see if I can figure it out.

I swear every time I feel overwhelmed, my brain de I swear every time I feel overwhelmed, my brain decides the solution is starting a bigger project instead of dealing with what’s actually making me overwhelmed

The laundry was piling up, my to do list was getting longer, and somehow I convinced myself that building a deck was the most logical next step.

Was it the responsible choice? Probably not.
Do I regret it? Also no. 😅

Anyone else procrastinate by making their life harder?
