I made a HUGE mistake with our backyard 😅

A few years ago I tried to DIY the area under our deck… but instead of doing it the right way, I basically just threw rocks down and hoped for the best because I didn’t know any better.

Fast forward a few years and weeds completely took over, so we finally decided to rip EVERYTHING out and start over

So this is officially the beginning of my backyard makeover series where I try to turn our backyard into a space I’m no longer embarrassed to show people 🙌

Would hiring someone be easier? Absolutely.

Can I afford a $10k stair makeover right now? Absolutely not 😂

So instead of paying someone else… I’m learning how to do it myself one step at a time.

If you’ve ever painted something and immediately regretted the color once it dried… welcome to the club 😅 [AD]

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve loved a paint color in the store, brought it home, and it looked COMPLETELY different once it was actually in my space.

So this time I tested everything first using Samplize peel and stick paint samples so I could see how the color looked in my laundry room lighting before painting the whole cabinet 👀

This laundry room has been on my list for the longest, and I finally decided to stop putting it off with the help of @thetileshop

I ripped up the old vinyl, cleared everything out, and upgraded from peel & stick to these beautiful, durable tiles from The Tile Shop… and I wish I did it sooner 👀

Not gonna lie, I questioned myself a few times along the way (first time tiling problems 😂)… but I’m so glad I stuck with it because look at it now 🤯

The large format tiles honestly made the space feel bigger and so much more elevated. It doesn’t even feel like the same room anymore.

This laundry room is the most used and most ignored space in my house, it was falling apart. Now it actually feels done, and built to last.

Switching from vinyl and peel & stick to tile from @thetileshop was one of the best decisions I made in here. It just feels more solid, more durable, and I don’t have to worry about it holding up over time.

The large format tile made a bigger difference than I expected too. Everything feels more open, less busy, and just… cleaner overall.
