No clue what I’m doing, but I’m gonna do it anyway is basically how every project starts around here 😅

This staircase makeover has taken way longer than I expected, and somehow I’m still not 100% done. But we’re making progress, and at this point, I think I can finish it before 2026 is over 😂

Please tell me I’m not the only one with a project that just keeps going…

Half the things I’ve learned how to do started with me getting a quote, realizing it was NOT in the budget, and then spending way too many hours researching how to do it myself.

Do I always know what I’m doing when I start? Absolutely not 😂 But we’re going to learn along the way.

I’m at the point of the stair makeover where I’m measuring 52 times, so I don’t make a mistake. 😅

Then I opened the instructions for the railing mounting hardware and everything was in millimeters. 😩

So I was converting measurements, checking them, and then checking them again because white oak is expensive, and I was NOT about to buy another railing or newel post because I rushed this part. 😂 So before drilling a single hole, I dry fitted everything more times than I could count, pulled out the laser level, and checked every angle to make sure the newel post and handrail were perfectly aligned.

And yes, I still checked it one more time before drilling. 😅

Please tell me I’m not the only one who measures a ridiculous number of times before making something permanent. Are you team measure once or measure 52 times?😂

My toxic trait is thinking nothing of spending weeks building a deck or renovating a staircase… but somehow a 5 minute task will stay on my to-do list for WEEKS. 😂🤦🏾‍♀️

And every single time I walk past it I tell myself, “I really need to do that soon.” Then just walk right past it again. 😭😂

Attempting to make this block retaining wall look a little prettier and more like one solid piece of concrete. #Ad

I’m just glad I didn’t have to make multiple trips thanks to my @gorillamadeproducts cart because carrying all that concrete, soil and plants down this hill would NOT have been fun.😂

I already know this cart is going to get A LOT of use with all the outdoor projects I still have left to tackle! My favorite part is that the sides come off, so I can use it as a regular cart or a flatbed depending on what I’m hauling. And if you know me, I’m always hauling something. 😅

And of course, the weather forecast was completely wrong and it started pouring before the concrete had a chance to dry. 😭 Thankfully, most of it survived and I was able to fix the spots that got washed away!

Now the question is… should I paint the retaining wall or leave it as is? 👀

If you’ve been following this staircase project, you already know I’ve measured everything approximately 47 times before actually committing to it. 😂😅 #AD

I’ve been using the Mileseey Tools S50 Laser Measurement Tool while installing my balusters and it has made getting all of these measurements SO much easier. especially when I’m working by myself.

One of my favorite features is being able to save my measurements and go back to check them later… because apparently measuring something once and trusting myself is not an option. 😂
